The strengthened speech technology in the new products will enable people with motor, cognitive and speech-related challengeThe objective of this FTI project is to bring two unique and complementary commercial products to the market: “Nuvoic Home” and “Nuvoic Shop”. At the same time, the project will create commercial added value by inherently advancing Voiceitt’s novel core speech recognition technology for impaired speech. The strengthened speech technology in the new products will enable people with motor, cognitive and speech-related challenges to access the benefits of mainstream voice-driven technologies, thus (we intend to demonstrate) improving independence and quality of life for these individuals. The consortium includes e-commerce giant, Procter & Gamble, that will leverage branding power, customer research and marketing methods to propel market uptake; the UK-based Karten Network and Belgium-based IMEC are highly recognised institutions that bring deep customer understanding and technical knowledge. The Nuvoic project will benefit people with speech and motor disabilities, and elderly with non-standard speech patterns, by providing the affected individuals an effective means to communicate with the people around them, as well as access to the benefits of mainstream voice-driven devices and technologies. It foresees product launches in 2022 and 2023 and presents a solid business opportunity on a product and sales level that will generate a turnover of €107Million in three years (2026), along with the potential to create real impact on the lives of disabled and elderly citizens of Europe and the world. Thus, paving the way towards a more inclusive society.
