PASSE-PARTOUT | Developing and protecting employment through collaboration between enterprises and vocational training systems

Summary
Rapid technological and economic changes have a direct effect on the labour market. In this context, the idea of a 'job for life' is obsolete and vocational training systems must adjust accordingly. Transferable core skills are an essential requirement for a successful working life (both for workers and for employers). This survey and analysis project develops work carried out under a previous PETRA II project on good practice in social skills training for disadvantaged young people. The main goal is to set up a framework for dialogue between the world of training and the world of work.

The first action will be a survey of transferable core skills needs identified by SMEs. Trainers will carry out the survey, and in doing so will gain first hand experience of the world of work. The products of the survey will then be used to design the content of training modules. The training modules will be piloted in various initial vocational training settings in the national systems of the partners. Trainer training will also take place. Particular attention will be paid to the organisation of work placements for trainers as company tutors.

Impact
The outcomes of this project are expected to contribute to the development of a common approach to training by enterprises and trainers. It will also improve trainers' ability to identify skills needs, which should lead to a consequent improvement of local training systems.
