AETP-WOL | Women On Line

Summary
This project has two goals. The first is to produce a training kit and handbook (in a number of European languages) on the various ways in which women working - or seeking to work - in radio can use computer network technology. The second to train a group of women trainers to use the kit with the target groups.

The training kit will be in multimedia format, using a variety of current tools such as the internet and CD-ROM. It will consist of five stand-alone modules : the use of email; the use of on-line newsgroups (particularly for use in radio news and current affairs programmes); the use of the internet to search for and obtain information to visit and search for web sites; the use of audio files on the internet for the transfer and exchange of radio programmes; and authoring of web pages.

The kit will be translated into the languages of the partners for general use. Once the kit has been produced, three training workshops will be be held to teach the use of the kit, again particularly to women. Two workshops will pilot the kit - one with trainers, one with the producers/managers. The third workshop will train trainees who will go on to run a workshop at national level.

Impact
The training developed by this project will respond to the needs of women working or wishing to work in the media industry, particularly in radio.
