Summary
„European Researchers' Night (ERN) in Malopolska” has been organising in our region for 15 years and the Night will be implemented in 2022 (30th September) and 2023 (29th Septempber) for the 16th and 17th time. The scope of the project will be further expanded beginning in 2022 thanks to „Researchers at Schools activities – we will introduce a series of scientific events throughout the school year. All the project activities will be organized under the slogan „Researchers and the challenges of the modern world” to present how researchers are working to tackle the challenges faced by our planet and the society. These are the key areas defined as EU Research and Innovation Missions and the objectives of the European Green Deal. All the events will be held in the hybrid formula (online and stationary activities) to response the participants needs and current pandemic situation. Such formula enable to attract larger group of people.
The main goal of the project are: to bring science and the profession of researchers closer to the general public and make the public more aware of the impact of the work of researchers’ on our daily lives, to develop interest in research and scientific careers in the youth.
Scale of the project is huge to show the wide scientific heritage and achieve project's goals:
- ERN 2022-2023: ca. 3 000 activities (incl. interactive workshops, demos and experiments, face to face meetings with researchers, science shows etc.), ca. 2 200 researchers, emploeey and students as well as 110 scientifis circles from 30 institutions involved, ca. 90 000 people will participate in ERNs,
- Researchers at Schools activities in 2022-2023: 200 workshops, demos and meetings with researchers, 160 scientists/workers and 80 students involved, 20 000 pupils and 340 teachers from 280 Polish schools will benefit.
The project has European dimension: due to its broad awareness campaign, we estimate that 5 million people will be made aware of the project every year.
