UBISpec | Ubiquitous in-line mass spectroscopy for industrial process monitoring and optimization with sustainable impacts

Summary
Spectro Inlets aims to commercialise the first mass-spectrometer (MS) to be used as an integral part of chemical-process based industries. The Spectro Inlets liquid gas analyser (SI-LGA) enables for the first time in-line, real-time measurement and optimisation of process-critical chemical reactions. Target industries include biogas-based energy generation, wastewater treatment, food & beverage production, and pharma, representing an €1.5B opportunity for Spectro Inlets. Deploying SI-LGA to biogas monitoring will reduce greenhouse gas emission by 2,300,000 tCO2 /year in Europe and increase the production yield in 5-15%. The technology enabler is a patented microchip inlet system. The objective of the UbiSpec project is to optimise, demonstrate and certify SI-LGA, from already achieved TRL6 prototypes to TRL9 and full commercialisation in the biogas sector. In 5 years from project launch, SI-LGA will represent 85% of our company’s €55m revenues and responsible for 60 new employees.
