Summary
Haloderma is a spin-out company from Aalborg university. Our team is expert in halophytes phytochemicals extraction and analysis for skincare purpose. Prof. Mette Thomsen, the founder of Haloderma, has dedicated decades of her research to understand halophytes and their applications. Thanks to our state-of-the-art characterization methods, we are able to optimise our extraction process to formulate a natural herbal extract with strong potency for the skin. Our extract is designed for a rich composition of antioxidants, flavonoids and polyphenols targeted towards anti-inflammation and regeneration of the skin. Those abilities make our extract suitable for chronic skin issues such as psoriasis, eczema, urticaria. Some of the phytochemicals extracted have not been categorised in literature before, which makes our research innovative and unique. Today, Haloderma is solely focused on producing natural skincare for sensitive/damaged skin. Our prototype cream was described in a study analysing its effect against itch and pain caused by dermatitis. Current users of our cream suffered from issues of extreme dryness, psoriasis and chronic eczema. They unanimously reported relief from the first cream application and visual improvements of the skin were observed as early as 14 days after. We are ambitious in our mission to become the leading Danish phytoactive skincare business for problematic skin. Currently, more clinical studies need to be executed to fully understand the power and applications of our extract. Given the success of our cream, we plan to expand our product portfolio to a skincare line. We hereby apply to this Horizon grant to fulfil our product development steps towards high-performing natural phytoactive skincare products for sensitive skin.
