Summary
ODYSSEY will disrupt the prescription eye-glass lens value chain. We will exploit the novel ultra-high-resolution on-resonance laser printing technology, developed by ODYSSEY partner DTU in FET OPEN CHROMAVISION. Early innovation activities to analyze the business potential of our laser printing technology were conducted in FET Innovation Launchpad DeLight. This resulted our business idea: To introduce on-demand, ultra-thin and light-weight prescription eyeglasses, laser-printed in the shop while you wait. With this business vision, we won the Excellent Science category of the H2020 Innovation Radar Prize in 2018. DTU has filed two international patent applications on the ODYSSEY technology. The main project activities will be: (1) Develop our business plan (2) Research and technology development to demonstrate prototype prescription glasses (3) Validate prototype prescription glasses with clients in the optician’s shop (4) Specify product and supply chain for university spin-out to be launched in continuation of the project.
