preSENSE | IoT-ready radar sensors with micrometer-level accuracy for safe human-machine collaboration

Summary
Robots are revolutionizing the labour landscape by increasing production and replacing workers in especially hard and dangerous jobs. But when men and robots have to work together, accidents occur due to the low efficiency of the strategies regarding robots in the presence of humans and the detection systems. In recent years, 77 workers have died due to accidents related to robots that, in addition to human losses, amount for millionaire costs.
We are going to produce the first mmWave Radar Sensor network designed specifically to increase safety on scenarios involving cobots and humans. Our smart sensor, combined with the specifically designed algorithms and cloud-based software, is able to detect an object with an accuracy of 1 µm under the most extreme conditions, in a compact and IoT-ready device that, in turn, enables additional services and business models for the first time in this area.
The Proximity Sensor Market is growing driven by very diverse activities in different sectors of the industry. The sale of collaborative robots has reached its highest levels in 2018 and, together with the implementation of new ISOs standards, that increase the security measures for the collaborative work of robots and humans, opens up great opportunities to enter a market projected to reach €5.75 B by 2020.
Our business model is based on direct sales of hardware and renewable software licenses to robot manufacturers and industrial users in Europe and Asia, allowing our company to grow and expand internationally. This is thus a strategic project for ondoSENSE. Its required investment is expected to provide us a profitability after five years in the market with ROI=7.5.
