HAP3 | Healthy Adaptation to Pregnancy, Postpartum and Parenthood

Summary
Annually, around 4 million European couples face life-changing transitions as they move from pregnancy, to postpartum and early parenthood. These transitions require adaptation to changes and challenges for women and their partners. OBESITY AND MENTAL HEALTH PROBLEMS are the two most common and interconnected complications with significant implications for overall health and well-being of future families and high costs for society. The HAP3 network builds capacity for tackling these challenges. To meet the needs of women and their families and assist care providers in their pivotal roles, integrative family-inclusive state-of-the-art monitoring and coaching modules are needed.

RESEARCH OBJECTIVES of HAP3 are 1) to examine risk and protective factors, and mechanisms of obesity and mental health problems, 2) to co-create an online HAP3 intervention consisting of a Family app and Dashboard for care providers, 3) to test the feasibility of the Family app and Dashboard, 4) to identify implementation factors and to develop implementation strategies for the implementation of the HAP3 intervention.

HAP3 DELIVERABLES are a list of critical health indicators related to prevention of obesity; a validated prediction model for early childhood obesity; an operational co-created HAP3 intervention; infographics for care providers (including strategies for the reach of vulnerable groups); a report on policy-level barriers and facilitators for the implementation of the HAP3 intervention; a toolbox for the future implementation of the HAP3 intervention.

The HAP3 TRAINING OBJECTIVE is to educate future PERINATAL CARE INNOVATORS in knowledge, research expertise and transferable skills needed to lead improvements in real-world care settings.
