HUMANITIES ROCK | Humanities Rock! Research: Shaping the Future of Humanity

Summary
"The HUMANITIES ROCK! ERN 2024-2025 builds upon the successes of the 2018-2019, 2020, and 2022-2023 editions, all organized by the University of Ljubljana. Our core mission remains consistent: to facilitate closer interaction between research and the general public. Our overarching objectives persist: to enhance understanding of research and innovation activities, to bolster public recognition of science and research education, to underscore the researcher's role in society and the economy, to showcase the tangible impact of research on daily life, and to inspire young individuals to consider research and scientific careers.
In an era where science denialism and skepticism towards scientists are prevalent, often attributed to academia's hesitance to engage with the broader public, our 2024-2025 edition unites STEM and SSH disciplines with the explicit goal of bringing research and researchers to the forefront. Our aim is to establish direct channels of communication with the general public, reinstating credibility and trust in research, innovation, and those who drive these efforts, while promoting public recognition of science and research education.
The 2024-2025 edition focuses on the expansive theme ""RESEARCH: SHAPING THE FUTURE OF HUMANITY."" This theme underscores research's pivotal role in shaping society's future and generating sustainable impact. It aspires to mobilize citizens, encouraging them to embrace innovative solutions and approaches, while fostering greater societal acceptance and engagement with science and research.
Our planned activities are particularly geared towards children, young individuals, and those who may typically be less inclined towards science. These activities encompass shows, competitions, exhibitions, lab visits, workshops, discussions, hands-on experiments, EU corners, open days, and live interactions with scientists. These events will take place in public venues and research institutions, which will open their doors to visitors."
