DSES | Development of an Electronic Wireless Safety System for Power Tools

Summary
Injuries caused by power tools are a major cause of concern. Facial injuries as a result of power tools are very common. There are around 340 million occupational accidents world-wide. Most of these accidents are caused by inattention through repetition, an unexpected event, and inexperience or over confidence. An automatic safety system is a major factor in reducing these accidents. Our company, INFACO SAS, is developing an innovative solution to these challenges - the DSES Wireless safety system. INFACO has been in the power tools industry since 1984 and currently has a turnover of €37.6 million with 60% of that from exports. INFACO has 100 employees. DSES is an automatic safety system, which offers a wireless electronic system giving the user freedom of movement. Our value proposition is, an electronic wireless safety system that can be adapted to different power tools, offering a safety system that is unmatched in the power tools industry. Our target users are Vineyards, Arboriculture, Parks and landscaping market. The current global power tools market is estimated at €25.84 billion in 2016 and is expected to reach €40.29 billion by 2023 growing at a CAGR of 6.5%. Our entry point for our innovation will be the European market, where we already have significant market share in France. Our distribution network covers more than 45 countries and will provide the logistics for market penetration. Our innovation is currently at prototype stage with a compact functional machine. Further validation and tests remain to be done to bring it to market. The purpose of the phase 1 is to carry out feasibility studies before commercialisation. This will allow us to come up with a detailed business plan covering a projected five-year period. This innovation will grow our market share by 5% and increase our turnover to €36.5 million by 2023. It will also create 17 new jobs.
