VOIC | REVOLUTIONARY THERAPY OF APHASIA

Summary
Home therapy is the future of many available medical therapies. Home therapy does not require any additional medical staff support or hospital space, resulting in large savings for healthcare services. Aphasia therapy is one which could be potentially moved to the home setting, resulting in great benefits for patients. Aphasia is a kind of brain damage caused mainly by a stroke which prevents a person’s linguistic communication while maintaining the intellect intact. It is independent of age or sex, hence everyone is at risk - every year in EU there are almost 300 000 new cases.
Most important for aphasia therapy is to start directly after it is diagnosed. Neuro Device Group with project VOIC aims at providing easy to use neuro-stimulation medical device coupled with software to provide the therapy at home setting. Currently, there is no dedicated device for aphasia therapy on the market, hence VOIC is a market-creating innovation. Our proposed therapy is more efficient and costs much less than the state-of-the-art standard speech therapy with a neuro-therapist. VOIC will be offered to patients such that the therapy starts quickly at a lower cost of a few thousand euros. We also want to offer VOIC to the therapists who can attend more patients at the same time, providing an additional source of income and patient satisfaction. The indirect benefit of the healthcare and retirement systems cannot be underestimated: lower cost of therapy and reduced cost of social benefits per patient, which can sum up to €3bn savings every year.
The project will be well aligned with the company strategy and global trends in medical treatment. The market for medical devices is rapidly growing at 14% CAGR and is going to reach €13bn in 2023. The market demand has been initially confirmed with patients, medical universities, and big medical devices distributors.
