Combustion tests on surrogate and its components

Summary
Report on the combustion tests on the surrogate and its components; They will be carried out tests on the combustion of fuel droplets of FPBO and the surrogate defined by PTM in single droplet experiments. The fundamental combustion properties of FPBO and the surrogate will be analyzed and compared. A second surrogate will be tested if the matching with the combustion characteristics of the FPBO will be not satisfying. The experimentation will be completed by combustion tests on the single pure compounds forming the ultimate surrogate. The experimental apparatus consists in a combustion chamber, where single fuel droplets are suspended to a bare thermocouple junction to measure the droplet temperature, and a high speed imaging shadowgraphy to follow the phenomenology exhibited by the droplets as well as the variation of their size.
