Publication with recommendations for research and measurement procedures to assess the potential harmfulness and proper management of wastes from shale gas exploitation. Aim: Public dissemination of scientific recommendations for assessment of the potential harmfulness and proper management of shale gas wastes from review of best practices (mainly U.S.A. and Canada), extended with analysis of available data to close identified knowledge gaps. Scope: Scientific recommendations on assessment of shale gas wastes provides guidelines for different stakeholders in shale gas activities, and aids discussions on proper technical criteria for licenses to operate.
