Evaluation of barrier concepts

Fraunhofer will evaluate the performance of highly effective functional migration barrier concepts to assess if contaminations of polyethylene recyclates are reduced down to levels below of any toxicological concern and to qualify these grades to be used in specific food packaging applications. The assessments will be performed by combining migration and permeation experiments with theoretical modelling. Conclusions will be withdrawn on the effectiveness of the barrier layers as functional migration barriers and will be reported for defining the final design of the packagings in WP5. This deliverable is linked to Task T4.5.
