Thermomechanical characterization of refractory materials finished

Summary
This report will review the thermomechanical behaviour of refractory materials at a sample scale brick under cyclic thermal gradient A dedicated device has been recently developed in the framework of another European program SFERA2 to monitor by acoustic emission and DIC the behaviour of a cylindrical disc 10 to 15 cm in diameter subjected to a concentrated solar irradiation solar furnace at PROMES laboratory Obtained results will be used to test the ability of refractory material to sustain thermal shocks in relation with the design of their microstructure and to validate preliminary FEM results from WP3 at sample scale
