A strategy document for Lake Peipsi ecosystem status

Summary
Promote the cross-border value (Estonia-Russia borderlands) of EMU’s aquatic ecology research: EMU will work with the international NGO Peipsi Center for Transboundary Cooperation to promote balanced development of the Lake Peipsi/Chudskoe region. EMU will meet with Peipsi CTC to help them measure what is the status of lake (Peipsi) ecosystem(s), how efficient are food webs, and how to improve both. SI data and modeling will give more comprehensive understanding of the ecosystem functioning and its behaviour as clean drinking and recreational water resource, producer of food (fish), carbon sequestration and greenhouse gas sink or source. With the guidance of AU and JYU, EMU will develop a strategy for collecting and analysing the needed information. EMU will also work with Peipsi CTC to disseminate this information to nonprofits, industry and policy makers.
