Summary
Critical review on multilevel ecological processes to improve systemic biodiversity protection and restoration strategies in Europe. The report will consider different ecological and biological levels, from single species to communities up to ecosystems and their correlation (e.g., focusing on species traits and interactions, functional groups, ecological processes, and connectivity aspects). Among others, it will provide a ranking of different areas according to their effectiveness in achieving biodiversity protection and restoration goals (e.g., functioning as ecological corridors, valuable habitats such as fish spawning and recruitment areas). It is developed in Task 3.1.
