Demonstration of circular use in flex. food packaging based on CFP technologies

Summary
The circular use of PE-PCRs coming from TBS flexible food packaging waste will be demonstrated. This deliverable is linked to Task T6.4 and T6.5.First in Task T6.4, PE-PCRs will be produced from TBS food packaging waste, and then the flexible packaging material thereof is produced. Finally, in Task T6.5, the packaging of food products is performed at NESTLE. The input waste quantity, responsible partner for the input waste materials, partners for purification and recycling processes, partner location, quantity of the output materials, number of the demonstrators are as listed below: - Waste input: 400 kg tracer marked food packs produced at Fraunhofer, AMCOR-G, AMCOR-K and NESTLE, and 1000 kg food flexible packaging waste delivered by SUEZ in France.- ca. 250 kg PE-PCR production (process cascades as defined in WP3): KREYEN (deodourization), SIEGWERK, UGENT (deinking), Fraunhofer (dissolution based separation), UM (mechanical recycling) - Output: ca. 400 kg PE based mono-material laminate with PE virgin, PE PCR, functional barriers, tracers printed by SIEGWERK, AMCOR-G and AMCOR-KMechanical and barrier characterisations of the material will be performed at Fraunhofer.- Packaging of food products: At least 2 types of demonstrators of flexible food packaging products: 1) coffee packed in flexible packaging, 2) creamer packed in flexible packaging in sachets. Shelf life tests with the product filled packages will be performed on-site at NESTLE and Fraunhofer.- PE PCR production will continue using the demonstrators, in a second cycle of Task T6.4. In Cycle 2, 250 kg of PE-PCR will be produced. This deliverable will include the food packaging demonstrator specifications (i.e. at least 2 demonstrators in total), input waste, purification and recycling processes, laminate production and its characterisation, and finally the demonstrator production details and package performance test results. The deliverable will be the outcome of Tasks T6.4 and T6.5, and T2.2 to T2.4. The main results will be to find out sorting efficiency, PCR yields, quality, cost, LCSA and comparison to SOA PCRs, ...
