Characterization of input material, benchmarking of cleaning processes

The analytical and biological (“bio¬assays”) characterisation of the novel PE recyclates in the project and also commercially available defined recyclate grades selected from the market, will be performed and compared with virgin PE. Target levels will be defined for relevant inherent molecules and contaminants that are present in the recycled granulates and that are regarded as toxicologically relevant for the safety assessment of the packaging applications. The characterisations, assessments, comparisons will be performed based on these defined target levels. The results will be summarised in the report, which will be the outcome of Task T4.2.
