Summary
During this project I expect to generate results which will be of interest to a variety of target audiences and thus will be made publicly available through dissemination. Results are as follows: 1) Generation of scRNA-seq data to identify melanoma cell/niche interactions. This will constitute an invaluable resource for cancer researchers. The raw data will be made available on a public data repository and its analysis may lead to the submission of a manuscript. 2) Novel method to establish reconstructed skin models. This will be of considerable interest to both academia and industry as a powerful tool for mechanistic investigation and drug testing. It will be described in a methods paper. 3) Identification of potential drug targets for the development of therapeutics against disseminated melanoma cells. These results will be reported in a publication and may initiate a collaboration with the C3D drug discovery platform and/or Inserm Transfert and/or industry partners. They may be of great interest to pharmaceutical and biotech companies but dissemination will depend on IP protection measures. However, they will be disseminated to the general public, patients and funding agencies in a simplified form. 4) Functional study of the impact of cancer/niche cell interactions. These results will be of interest to the cancer research community. The main project findings will be disseminated through presentations at conferences relevant to the cancer, metastasis or zebrafish fields and other local seminars. To reach the general public and patients with cancer, I will present the results of my research in non-specialist terms at the yearly conference organised by the Ligue Contre le Cancer foundation and that gathers various groups of people interested in cancer research including patients, students, biotech and pharmaceutical companies, clinicians and academics. I will also contribute to the monthly newsletter of the CLB (CRCL’s associated hospital) to keep local clinicians and patients informed of our progress. Finally, I will post science updates on social network platforms like LinkedIn and Twitter on a monthly basis.
